KCCA FC striker Muhammad Shaban has been crowned the Fortebet Real Star Sports Award winner for the month of April in the football category.
The talented forward edged Sharon Namatovu of Makerere University WFC and Kitara FC’s Paul Mucureezi to claim the prestigious accolade.
Shaban’s impressive displays throughout the month were key to KCCA’s recent surge up the Uganda Premier League table.
The striker netted the winning goal against Gaddafi FC on 5th April, before scoring a brace in KCCA’s emphatic 4-0 thrashing of Mbarara City on 18th April – a result that saw the Kasasiro Boys move within just six points of the then league leaders Kitara FC.
The former Vipers SC and Odumparaka striker then capped off a superb month by scoring a stunning 75th-minute equaliser in KCCA’s hard-fought 2-2 draw with Bright Stars on 25th April.
Shaban’s match-winning contributions have been instrumental in KCCA’s sustained rise in form, and the 26-year old will be hoping to maintain form as the season reaches its climax.
Alongside Shaban, the award ceremony also recognised other sporting excellence, with Heathens captain Michael Wokorach winning the Rugby award and Farahat Manirola claiming the Boxing crown, edging out Henry Kasujja and Harold Mukuye.
The Fortebet Real Star Sports Awards are monthly awards that aim to celebrate the outstanding achievements of individuals across Uganda’s diverse sporting landscape.
