On Thursday, May 16th, the Uganda Rugby Union Local Organizing Committee visited Mandela National Stadium to engage with stadium management as part of the preparations for the upcoming Rugby Africa Cup.
The tournament, scheduled to take place from July 18th to 29th, will also serve as qualifiers for the Rugby World Cup.
The visit is part of ongoing efforts by the Ugandan government and Namboole stadium management to develop the country’s first-ever rugby-standard facility.
These preparations are crucial to meet international standards and ensure a successful hosting of the tournament.
The Rugby Africa Cup will feature several prominent teams, including Namibia, Uganda, Kenya, and Zimbabwe. Other participating nations include Algeria, Cote d’Ivoire, Senegal, and Burkina Faso, all vying for a spot in the Rugby World Cup.
The Rugby section of the Mandela National Stadium will host the Nile Special Rugby Championships Finals as a test match ahead of the Rugby Africa Cup.
