UPL Finale: Vipers Aim for Seventh League Title

Vipers Sports Club, based in Kitende, Wakiso District, is a prominent football club with a rich history. Established in 1978 as Bunamwaya FC, the club transitioned to Vipers SC in 2012 to enhance its national relevance.

Vipers SC have been the most successful team recently clinching the StarTimes Uganda Premier League title six times, with their first league title coming in 2010.

The club’s achievements include winning the Uganda Cup and participating in continental competitions like the Caf Confederation Cup and the Caf Champions League.

Vipers SC boasts a strong squad with players of varying ages and nationalities, including notable talents like Yunus Sentamu and Allan Okello to name but a few.

The club’s management, led by President Lawrence Mulindwa, is focused not only on winning titles but also on building a sustainable legacy beyond trophies, emphasizing the importance of infrastructure and visionary leadership for long-term success.

The ongoing 2023/24 StarTimes Uganda Premier League season is reaching its climax, with Vipers tied with BUL on 53 points, one behind leaders SC Villa.

They host Mbarara City at their St. Mary’s Stadium in Kitende, needing to win and hope both SC Villa and BUL drop points.

This combination of results would propel Vipers to the top of the table, potentially securing their third league title in a row and seventh overall.

The final match against Mbarara City presents a crucial opportunity for Vipers SC to capitalize on their strong performance throughout the season and clinch the coveted championship.
