Lugazi Secures Historic Promotion to Uganda Premier League

Lugazi Football Club has achieved a historic milestone by securing promotion to the StarTimes Uganda Premier League (SUPL) for the first time in the club’s history. The team clinched their place in the top tier with a decisive 2-0 victory over Kaaro Karungi FC at home.

The victory, witnessed by thousands of jubilant fans, was sealed with goals from Ronald Ssemugugu and Ronald Ssempala. Ssemugugu opened the scoring with a well-placed shot in the first half, while Ssempala doubled the lead in the second half, ensuring Lugazi FC’s triumph.

Head coach Gerald Efiti, who has been instrumental in the team’s success, praised his players for their dedication and hard work throughout the season.

“This promotion is a testament to the commitment and perseverance of our players and the unwavering support of our fans,” Efiti stated.

The atmosphere at the stadium was electric, as fans celebrated the promotion with cheers and chants, creating a festive environment that highlighted the significance of the achievement for the club and the local community.

Lugazi FC, formerly known as Kampala University FC, underwent a rebranding in 2020. Since then, the club has focused on building a competitive team capable of making a mark in Ugandan football.

Police and Mbale Heroes are the two other teams joining Lugazi in the top flight while Gaddafi, Busoga United and Arua Hill were relegated from the top flight.
