Uganda’s U18 Junior Silverbacks and Gazelles are diligently preparing for the upcoming FIBA AFRO Basketball Zone V Qualifiers set to commence on Saturday, June 8th.
The teams, engaged in rigorous training sessions, are gearing up for the competition with high spirits and determination.
The squads, initially comprising 15 players each, will be trimmed down to 12 members, with an additional three players reserved in case of injuries during the tournament.
Head Coach Michael Seger expressed his appreciation to the Federation of Uganda Basketball Association for granting them ample training time, starting as early as September last year.
He highlighted the heightened interest among young talents and emphasized the extended preparation period to face formidable opponents.
Among the participating teams are Kenya, Tanzania, and Rwanda, all of whom have confirmed their presence in the tournament.
However, Somalia, initially slated to compete, later withdrew from the competition, leaving the event with representation from the four East African countries.
