Paul Put Not Impressed by Team’s First Half Display Despite Botswana Win

Uganda Cranes’ head coach Paul Joseph Put has expressed his appreciation for the team’s efforts despite their 2-1 loss to Algeria on Monday. He especially praised how the team started saying Uganda were the better team in the first half.

Travis Mutyaba opened the scoring for Uganda in the 10th minute in a half that was largely dominated by the Cranes. However, Algeria came back from the break a different team with their quality on full show, sealing the win with two early second half goals.

Despite the defeat, Paul Put remains optimistic about the future, revealing that he, together with the Federation are in communication with other players to join the squad.

He also showed of appreciation for the fans’ unwavering support, saying, “I appreciate our fans for being behind the team, even though we didn’t win.”

Looking ahead, Uganda Cranes will resume their campaign in March 2025, facing Mozambique on March 17 and Guinea on March 25. The team aims to build on their performances and climb up the group standings.
