The Uganda Rugby 7s team is set to compete in the Rugby 7s Repechage in Monaco, aiming to secure a spot at the 2024 Paris Olympics. The team has been training intensely in Monaco ahead of their opening game against Canada.
Uganda will face a challenging pool stage, with matches scheduled against Canada, China, and Great Britain. This tournament marks Uganda’s third consecutive appearance at the Rugby 7s Repechage, having participated since 2016.
Team captain Ian Munyani expressed confidence ahead of the games, stating, “With all players in, we have been able to gel in well and acclimatization as a team is positive. We look forward to playing our best this season.”
The Rugby 7s Repechage will take place from June 21-23. Success in this tournament would see Uganda joining Kenya as Africa’s representatives in Rugby 7s at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
