Slovenia were seconds away from making history at the European Championship in their 1–1 stalemate against Serbia.
Striker Luka Jovic stood tallest to node in Serbia’s equalizer at the deathmark, denying Slovenia a maiden victory at the Euros.
Jovic’s header was literally the final touch of the game coming in the final minute of the five added on, cancelling out Zan Karnicnik’s 69th minute goal.
The Dragons are playing at their second European Championship, the first since 2000 where they were eliminated from the group stages without a win.
It is also worth noting that Jovic did not only keep the Eagles’ tournament alive but also scored an international goal for the first time since 2022.
The last time the AC Milan forward was on the scoresheet for Serbia was in a 5-1 international friendly victory against Bahrain in November, 2022.
Following the one-all draw, both sides remain winless in Group C with Slovenia on two points in the second position whilst Serbia are at the base of the standings with a single point.
They will both return to fray on Tuesday, June 25 against England and Denmark, respectively to determine their Euro fate.
