Uganda’s women’s rugby team, the Lady Rugby Cranes delivered a commanding performance, defeating Jamaica 29-0 in a crucial Rugby Olympics qualifier match.
Uganda’s offensive onslaught was led by Peace Lekuru, who scored two tries, contributing significantly to the team’s victory. Additional tries were scored by Lydia Namabiro, Lona Amoli, and Grace Nabaggala, further solidifying Uganda’s dominance on the field.
Mayimuna Nassozi and Grace Nabaggala successfully converted the tries, adding valuable points to the scoreboard. Despite several attempts, Jamaica was unable to penetrate Uganda’s robust defense, resulting in a shutout.
Uganda lead Pool E on day one with 3 points, tied with Hong Kong but with superior scoring statistics.
The Lady Rugby Cranes will face Paraguay and Hong Kong on Saturday 22nd June, 2024.
