Paul Mucureezi has officially bid farewell to Kitara Football Club after two successful seasons with the team.
In a message posted on his official X platform on Wednesday, June 26th, Mucureezi said goodbye to the club and expressed his gratitude for the time he has spent at Kitara.
“Farewell to the team Kitara FC that has been more than just a workplace, it’s been a second home,” he wrote. “Leaving this team is like closing one door and opening another. Grateful for the opportunities and friendships.”
He also saluted Kitara’s club president, Deo Kasozi, and thanked coach Brian Ssenyondo for the opportunity to play for the club. “To the club President Deo Kasozi, I salute you, boss. Thanks, Coach Brian Ssenyondo, for the opportunity you gave to me. I will forever be a Royal.”
Mucureezi joined Kitara in January 2023 and immediately made an impact. The talented midfielder played a pivotal role in his first season, helping them win the FUFA Big League, and gain promotion to Uganda’s top flight.
He then helped the Hoima-based side win the Stanbic Uganda Cup, beating NEC to the coveted trophy.
In addition, the 31-year-old was instrumental in Kitara’s impressive performances last season, contributing significantly to their staying in contention for the league title until the final day, and subsequently their fourth-place finish in their maiden Uganda Premier League season.
Before Kitara, the Mucureezi played for Vipers SC, where he won two StarTimes Uganda Premier League titles in 2020 and 2022, and the Stanbic Uganda Cup trophy in 2021. He also played for KCCA and Mbarara City
Paul Mucureezi had previously announced his departure from Kitara Football Club on May 24th, before the Stanbic Uganda Cup final, which was his last game with the club, and now he has officially bid farewell to the club.
