Vipers Sports Club has strengthened its squad with the signing of promising young forward Issa Bugembe.
The 19-year-old joins the club from Uganda Premier League side Soltilo Bright Stars following the expiration of his contract and has agreed to a four-year deal that will keep him at Kitende until the end of the 2027/28 season.
Bugembe, who is also a student at St. Mary’s Boarding Secondary School, Kitende (SMASK), an affiliate and feeder side to Vipers, expressed enthusiasm about his new opportunity.
He has been a key player for SMASK, contributing to the team’s third-place finish at the 2024 Uganda Secondary Schools Associations (USSSA) championships in Masaka, and their qualification for the East African games to be hosted in Uganda.
Known for his physical presence and versatility, Bugembe can operate both as an attacking midfielder and a striker. His previous stints include playing for Royal Giants High School in Mityana, where he also represented the team in national school championships in 2022. Additionally, Bugembe has experience at various youth levels for Uganda, including the U15, U17, and U20 sides.
Bugembe’s arrival marks the fourth signing for Vipers in the current transfer window, following the acquisitions of Derrick Ndahiro, Pedro Honjo Chimbiambiulo (also known as Sukuya), and youngster Kenneth Kimera.
