Gor Mahia Appoints Leo Neiva as Head Coach

Gor Mahia, the reigning Kenya Premier League champions, have appointed Leo Neiva as their new head coach. The Brazilian tactician, formerly with Vipers in Uganda, brings a wealth of experience to the Nairobi-based club.

Neiva will be supported by Zedekiah ‘Zico’ Otieno and Michael Nam, who join as assistant coaches. This marks Neiva’s fourth coaching stint in Africa, having previously managed Vipers (Uganda), Young Africans (Tanzania), and Al-Merrikh (Sudan).

His tenure at Vipers saw a swift exit despite high expectations, succeeding Alex Isabirye in July 2023 but departing in December of the same year following local and continental challenges.

Neiva takes over from Jonathan McKinstry, under whose guidance Gor Mahia secured consecutive league titles and a Charity Shield amidst early challenges. McKinstry recently departed to lead the Gambian National Team, paving the way for Neiva to lead Gor Mahia into their next chapter.

The club looks forward to building on its recent successes under Neiva’s leadership, aiming to maintain their dominance in Kenyan football.
