Makerere College School Crowned Central Schools 7s Champions

Makerere College School, popularly known as MACOS, emerged as the overall champions of the Central Schools 7s 2024, narrowly edging out Namilyango College by two points.

MACOS secured their victory with a total of 80 points, while Namilyango College finished second with 78 points. Both schools won two circuits each, but MACOS’s consistent performance throughout the tournament gave them the winning edge.

London College Maya claimed third place with 57 points, followed by Greenhill Academy in fourth with 55 points, and King’s College Budo in fifth with 51 points. The final standings were solidified after an intense series of matches in the fourth and final circuit of the Central Schools 7s.

In the quarter-finals, Namilyango College defeated Vienna College with a commanding 21-0 victory. Budo triumphed over Luigi Giussani with a 19-0 score. MACOS narrowly beat Greenhill Academy 19-14, while London College Maya shut out St Peter’s Naalya 12-0.

The semi-finals saw MACOS continue their dominant run by defeating Budo 19-0. In a surprising turn, London College Maya upset Namilyango College with a 14-7 win, setting the stage for the final clash.

In the finals, MACOS secured their championship by defeating London College Maya 12-5.

Namilyango College, which entered the final Central Schools circuit leading the overall standings with 61 points, saw their title hopes dashed with a semi-final exit, ultimately finishing second overall.
