The exact identity of this Libyan team will be confirmed later this month.

Libya 2 is the lower-ranked team among the two Libyan representatives, with the higher-ranked team designated as Libya 1.

The first leg of Kitara’s preliminary round tie will be played at home, at the Mandela National Stadium, Namboole, as confirmed by Kitara president Deo Kasozi yesterday.

These first-leg matches are scheduled to take place between August 16th and 18th, with the return legs set for August 23rd to 25th.

The winner of this tie will then face El Masry from Egypt in the second preliminary round.

The first legs of second preliminary round matches are slated for September 13th to 15th, while the return legs occurring between September 20th and 22nd, 2024.

The CAF Confederations Cup, which began in 2004, is set to feature 52 teams in its 2024/25 edition.

16 teams will progress from the preliminary rounds to the group stages, and eight teams will ultimately qualify for the quarterfinals.

Notably, 12 top-performing teams from the last five seasons are exempted from the preliminary rounds, while the next three ranked teams will face non-ranked teams in these initial stages.

Kitara FC was placed in Pot 2 for the draw, with teams grouped based on geographic, economic, and sporting criteria.

In other notable fixtures from the draw, Tanzania’s Simba SC will play against the winner of the tie between Uhamiaji FC of Zanzibar and Libya 1.

Kitara, who were promoted to the StarTimes Premier League last season, will be aiming showcase their talent and prowess on a larger stage and strive for success in Africa’s second-tier club competition.
