In a strategic move to address club-specific challenges and enhance communication, FUFA President Moses Magogo has revealed that the Federation has initiated a series of one-on-one meetings with Uganda Premier League clubs.
Magogo says this initiative stems from the realization that broad, collective meetings often fail to capture the unique concerns and insights of individual clubs.
“We have been meeting clubs in different meetings, but certain things have not been coming out properly. Some people don’t even contribute in large meetings for some reasons, but if you meet them in smaller meetings, they open up, making it possible to pick things that could have been missed,” Magogo explained.
Magogo emphasized the importance of these personalized meetings, noting that each club faces distinct challenges.
“It is why we are meeting Uganda Premier League clubs one by one because these have different challenges that are specific to each one of them. We want to understand things from their perspective as well as tell them about FUFA programmes that we want them to appreciate,” he stated.
Addressing concerns about FUFA’s focus, Magogo acknowledged past criticisms. “Over time, people have been complaining that FUFA is focusing on the national team(s) and ignoring the clubs. Now we want to give extra attention to clubs and do certain things to help build them,” he assured.
The initiative is already underway, with FUFA 3rd Vice President Florence Nakiwala Kiyinji meeting with NEC Football Club and Kitara Football Club Presidents on Tuesday, 9th July.
These meetings mark the beginning of a comprehensive engagement process aimed at fostering stronger relationships and addressing the specific needs of each club.
