Express Football Club youngster Alpha Thierry Ssali should have been born in England had his mother Zuena Kirema been patient enough.

Ugandan music icon Moses Ssali alias Bebe Cool who is the player’s father narrated the above story in an interview with NBS Sport’s The Bench Show on Sunday.

“After Zuena and I got married, she asked that we move to London. When she was pregnant with Alpha, I decided to send her to my sister who is based in the UK but upon reaching there she felt uncomfortable,” Bebe Cool narrated.

“She kept calling me that she wanted to return home and before I knew it she was at Entebbe Airport. I could not believe it when she called me to pick her up but I actually found her there,” he continued.

“With my love for Arsenal and during the days of Thierry Henry, I told her we shall name the baby boy Thierry and my target was to have him born in England,” he noted.

“It was a little bit disappointing because that is the level where I wanted my son to be in order to take the football path,” Bebe Cool added.

Although it did not happen, the Arsenal diehard continuously supports his son in his career and they have had many visits to Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium on a couple of occasions.

Bebe Cool and Alpha Thierry Ssali have also recently visited Barcelona and PSG.

The 19-year-old featured for the seven-time StarTimes Uganda Premier League last season after signing a two-year contract.

He scored three goals and managed a single assist during that period.

Ssali was part of the Uganda Hippos team that reached the U20 Africa Cup of Nations and All Africa Games but lost the final on both occasions to Ghana and Senegal, respectively.
