The Uganda Rugby Union has addressed concerns raised by fans regarding seating arrangements for the upcoming Rugby Africa Cup.
The tournament, which will serve as the first stage of the 2027 men’s Rugby World Cup qualifiers for the African region, is expected to attract 15,000 fans.
The first round of games will take place at Namboole Stadium, with semi-finals held at Wankulukuku Stadium and the finals returning to Namboole.
However, the matches at Namboole will be hosted on the outside pitch, which currently lacks a pavilion, unlike the inner pitch used primarily by the national football team.
In response to fan concerns on the seating arrangement, the Uganda Rugby Union’s Head of Communications, Shafik Kiyaga, assured fans that efforts are underway to set up adequate seating.
“Works are ongoing to establish distinct seating areas across the outside pitch,” Kiyaga stated. “We will ensure a comfortable and enjoyable experience for all fans, with different arrangements for VVIP, VIP, and ordinary spectators.”
The Uganda Rugby Union also assured fans that the ticketing issues at Namboole had been resolved after previous issues came up during the Football games.
Tickets for the Rugby Africa Cup are available at discounted rates through MTN. Prices are set at UGX 10,000 for ordinary seats, UGX 40,000 for VIP, and UGX 150,000 for VVIP.
Uganda will host seven other countries, including defending champions Namibia, in this highly anticipated tournament.
