FUFA Super 8: Uganda Cranes Squad Unveiled for August Tournament

The Uganda Cranes Select squad has been announced for the upcoming FUFA Super 8 Tournament, set to kick off on August 2.

Assistant coach Sam Ssimbwa has named a 29-man squad comprising local-based players, free agents, and a few foreign-based players.

The team will compete against top clubs like SC Villa, BUL FC, Vipers SC, Kitara FC, KCCA FC, Maroons FC, and NEC FC in the tournament sponsored by MTN and Nile Special.

The FUFA Communications Director, Ahmed Hussein, confirmed the squad selection and noted that the tournament provides an opportunity for players to impress the Uganda Cranes technical team and potentially break into the senior team for the 2025 AFCON Qualifiers.

The team will commence non-residential training on Tuesday, July 23 at 8:00 a.m. at the Lugogo MTN Omondi Stadium.

The tournament will be played across three venues: Mandela National Stadium-Namboole, St. Mary’s Stadium-Kitende, and MTN Omondi Stadium-Lugogo.

The Uganda Cranes Select Squad for the FUFA Super 8 Tournament will feature 3 goalkeepers, 8 defenders, 10 midfielders, and 8 strikers.

– Ssekajja Bashir (Wakiso Giants FC)
