Uganda Cranes defender Mustafa Kizza’s third stint at KCCA FC has come to an end.
The marauding left-back confirmed the above development in a statement shared on his social media platforms on Friday night.
“As I bid farewell to the club that has been my home for many years, I want to take this moment to express my deepest gratitude. KCCA is where I began my professional career, and it has been an incredible journey, filled with growth, challenges, and unforgettable memories,” Kizza wrote.
To the club, thank you for believing in me and giving me the platform to showcase my talent. Your support and guidance have been invaluable and I will always be grateful for the opportunity you have given me.”
Kizza is a graduate of the KCCA development program and was promoted to the senior team in 2017 alongside the likes of Allan Okello, Filbert Obenchan, Julius Poloto, Herbert Achai, and Peter Magambo under the reign of head coach Mike Mutebi.
“To the coaches, I extend my heartfelt thanks to every one of you. Your mentorship, dedication, and belief in my abilities have been instrumental in my development as a player. I have learned so much from each of you, and your influence will always be a part of my journey,” he noted.
He grew to become one of the fan’s favourites at the MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo and news of his departure to join Major League Soccer side Montreal Impact in America in 2020 left many KCCA faithful disappointed.
A year later, the 24-year-old was once again on the move to the Portuguese Premeira Liga signing for FC Arouca.
He would later return to Lugogo in the second half of the 2022/23 season, but injury did not do him justice.
While on the verge of joining KCCA’s rivals Vipers SC alongside his boyhood friend Okello, Kizza decided to return to KCCA exciting the faithful as the latter switched to Kitende.
“To the fans, your unwavering support has been a constant motivation and inspiration. Your cheers, chants, and encouragement have fueled my passion and drive on the field. I will forever cherish the bond we share and the memories we have created together,” he appreciated.
He was part of the KCCA team that made history by becoming the first Ugandan team to reach the group stages of the lucrative and prestigious CAF Champions League.
“While it is time for me to move on to a new challenge, KCCA FC will always hold a special place in my heart. Thank you for being a part of my journey. I wish the club continued success and look forward to seeing the amazing things you will achieve in the future,” Kizza concluded.
Maroons FC is the other team he has played for previously in Uganda during the 2016/17 season on loan from KCCA.
His next move remains a mystery but he will attract suitors both locally and internationally.
