Olila High School Women’s Team is saying goodbye to their esteemed coach, Saddam Pande Cifu, after an illustrious eight-year tenure.
The CAF B licensed coach leaves behind a legacy of triumph and dedication that has significantly shaped the team’s history and future.
During his remarkable stretch, Coach Cifu led the team to numerous victories, most notably the first Women’s Cup title in 2016 against Gafford Ladies.
His expert guidance saw the team secure promotion to the FUFA Women Super League after finishing second in the FUFA Women Elite League, narrowly losing to She Corporate on penalties in the 2022/2023 season.
Under his leadership, the team amassed 33 points and 27 goals, finishing ahead of rivals Byafayo Queens in the Victoria Group.
Coach Cifu’s crowning achievement came in the 2023/2024 season, as he fulfilled his dream of returning the team to the FUFA Women Super League, set to kick off in September 2024.
“My dream was to see the team return to play in the women’s super league next season, which the players have achieved,” Cifu said at the end of the 2023/2024 season.
In his resignation letter, addressed to the Director, Headmaster, and Sports Office of Olila High School, Cifu wrote, “I am overwhelmed with emotions as I bid farewell to a chapter in my life that has been nothing short of extraordinary for the past eight years.”
He added, “Olila has been more than just a team to me. It has been a home, a family, and a source of unending joy.”
In a social media post, the team stated, “The impact you’ve had on our team will be felt for years to come. Your dedication, expertise, and passion have made us a family, and we’re forever grateful. Wishing you all the best on your new journey.”
