Hon. Peter Ogwang, the State Minister for Sports has expressed optimism about the ongoing construction of Hoima Stadium.
He made the observation during an inter-agency meeting held in Hoima City on Thursday morning which he chaired.
The meeting focused on resolving key issues related to the stadium’s completion within the stipulated 18-month period.
After the meeting, the Minister visited the construction site and shared his satisfaction with the progress.
“Construction is taking shape, and I am confident that the company we selected, MS Summa, will do a good job,” Ogwang stated.
According to Ogwang, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and the Minister of Education and Sports, Janet Museveni are set to lay the foundation stone for the stadium at a future date.
Hon. Ogwang also emphasized the importance of collaboration between local leaders, stakeholders, and the contractor to ensure that the project remains on track.
Once completed, Hoima Stadium will be able to accommodate 20,000 spectators, making it a key sports facility in the region. It has been earmarked to host AFCON 2027 which will be jointly hosted by Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania.
