SC Villa will be without two key players in their CAF Champions League game against Commercial Bank of Ethiopia (CBE).
According to interim head coach Morley Byekwaso, Diego Hamis Ssemugera and Reagan Mpande will miss the first leg of this preliminary round.
“Ssemugera is injured whereas Mpande has just returned to training,” Byekwaso told the media ahead of the game on Friday
“They are the only two players who will not feature tomorrow and the rest of their colleagues are in good shape are ready for task ahead.”
When the two sides enter the fray at the Mandela National Stadium, Namboole, Villa will be playing in the competition for the first time since 2005.
“It is a privilege for us to be representing the country in this biggest inter-club competition on the continent.”
“But for us to go far in the tournament these are the kinds of games we should be able to win despite the fact that we are inexperienced I believe these players have the potential.”
“As coaches we are trying as much as we can to instill confidence in these boys and showing them the path because we have been here before,” Byekwaso noted.
The former KCCA manager will be determined to prove to his bosses that he is the right man for job permanently.
He is serving as the caretaker manager following the departure of his boss Dusan Stojanovic who landed the Jogoos first title since his compatriot Milutin Micho Sredojevic in 2004.
Last season’s Player and Young Player of the Season Patrick Kakande and the Midfielder of the Season Ronald Ssekiganda will be instrumental for Byekwaso’s team.
