Not only were the 2024/25 StarTimes Uganda Premier League fixtures released on Friday night, but also were revelations of new host grounds for a couple of clubs.
UPL champions Villa, Stanbic Uganda Cup winners Kitara, and FUFA Super 8 holders BUL will use fresh playgrounds from last season.
Villa who host Commercial Bank of Ethiopia (CBE) is the CAF Champions League preliminaries on August 17th, will remain there throughout the season and this had earlier on been hinted at by the state minister for sports Peter Ogwang in an exclusive interview with NBS Sport.
“Villa approached me requesting to use Namboole not only for the Champions League but also for the whole season,” Ogwang told NBS Sport on Tuesday.
The above means no Premier League team will be hosting games at Muteesa II, Stadium, Wankulukuku for the first in a long while given that Express also left for Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo.
On the other hand, Kitara who hosted their home games during their returning season at Masindi Stadium will shift to their long term home the Royal Park in Butema, Hoima.
BUL are also on the move to Lugazi Stadium, Najjemba after hosting from FUFA Technical Center, Njeru last season.
The Oil Manufacturers will therefore share the same playground with the newly promoted Lugazi.
Same as Wankulukuku, there will be no team hosting from FUFA Technical Center, Njeru at least for now.
Newly promoted side Mbale Heroes is the only team without a playground indicated on their fixtures with Mbale Municipal Stadium not meeting the necessary requirements yet.
It is also important to note that URA also relocated to Nakivubo for this season and they’ll be sharing the same facilities with Express.
