FEASSA Games 2024: Co-Hosts Amus College Clinch Boys’ Football Title

Federation of East Africa Secondary Schools Sports Associations (FEASSA) Games, co-hosts Amus College School have secured their first-ever regional title in the Boys’ football category by edging record champions St. Mary’s Kitende with a 1-0 victory.

The match, played at Amus College Stadium in Bukedea earlier today, was a thrilling rematch of last year’s final, where Kitende emerged victorious in Huye, Rwanda.

The decisive moment came just after halftime when Kibenda Abdulrazak struck a stunning goal in the 48th minute, sending the home crowd into a frenzy.

Despite efforts by St. Mary’s Kitende to equalise, Amus held on to clinch what will go down as a famous victory for them.

This victory not only crowned Amus College as champions but also marked their first regional title in football.

Before the final, Nimrod Kintu’s boys had showcased their prowess throughout the tournament.

After a rocky start with a 2-2 draw against Musingu High School from Kenya, they bounced back with a series of impressive performances, including a commanding 2-0 victory over the other co-hosts, Bukedea Comprehensive, in the semi-finals.

St. Mary’s Kitende, on the other hand, were denied their 16th record title in East African Secondary Schools football.

The team had previously won the Games consecutively between 2004 and 2014, and also in 2017, 2019 and 2023.

Notably, this year’s final featured International Schools Federation (ISF) President Laurent Petrynka in attendance.

This year’s edition of the FEASSA Games, which kicked off 10 days ago and climaxed today, was hosted by Uganda in Bukedea and Mbale districts.

Kenya will host the next edition, which brings together schools from Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Burundi and Rwanda.
