FIFA has released its International Transfer Snapshot, revealing a record-breaking 2024 mid-year transfer window in both men’s and women’s professional football.
The report, presented on a new interactive platform for the first time, highlights a surge in spending and transfer activity across the globe.
According to the report, over USD 6.4 billion (UGX 23.8 trillion) was spent on transfer fees in men’s football, the second-highest amount ever recorded.
Further more, over 10,900 international transfers registered in men’s professional football, a new all-time high.
English clubs led the way, spending over USD 1.6 billion (UGX 5.92 trillion) on transfer fees in men’s football. They also saw the highest number of incoming transfers.
The report also showed a significant leap in women’s football transfers. USD 6.8 million (UGX 25.16 billion) spent on international transfers in women’s professional football, more than double the previous mid-year window.
Additionally, over 1,100 international transfers were registered in women’s professional football, a new record and a 30% increase compared to 2023.
FIFA say they will publish an in-depth analysis of all international transfers for the entire 2024 calendar year in January 2025.
