However, they’ll not be involved from the onset due to international engagement as revealed during the drawing ceremony held at Kati Kati Restaurant on Thursday, September 5.

Nkumba will represent Uganda in the Africa University Games in Lagos, Nigeria and will fly to West Africa on Friday, September 20.

The tournament doubles as the World Cup qualifier and the Ugandan Higher Institution of Learning will be hoping to make the cut.

Group C that consists of last year’s losing finalists and 2019 champions Uganda Christian University (UCU), St. Lawerence University (SLAU), YMCA, and Kabale University can be considered as the group of death.

Despite not winning the UFL, SLAU have played the most finals in recent years. YMCA versus SLAU has become a common fixture and the pair will renew their rivalry.

The 2024/25 season will be the 12th edition of the UFL and the fixtures are expected to be announced on Monday, September 9.

With Nkumba away on international duty, UCU who finished second last season will have the honours to host the first game of the campaign on Tuesday, September 17.

Group A: Nkumba University, Busitema University, Islamic University in Uganda (IUIU), ISBAT University

Group B: Makerere University, Kumi University, Ndejje University, Victoria University

Group C: Uganda Christian University, Kabale University, St. Lawrence University, YMCA
