Bobosi Byaruhanga and Timothy Awany are not part of the Uganda Cranes squad ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against South Africa.
Byaruhanga and Awany were summoned by head coach Paul Joseph Put but didn’t make the trip to South Africa.
NBS Sport has learnt that the Austin II and FC Ashdod players in the United States of America and Israel, respectively are the other players who have visa issues.
Kenneth Ssemakula and Halid Lwaliwa are the other two players with visa issues and Put mentioned that they will not play against South Africa.
Although that isn’t the case with Byaruhanga and Awany, the Belgian tactician happened to have hinted about more absentees during his pre match press conference on Thursday.
“Unfortunately we are also facing problems like South Africa with players who couldn’t leave their clubs because of contract or some problems and they didn’t want to take risks and it’s the same with us,” Put noted.
The Cranes will battle Bafana Bafana on Friday, September 6 at Orlando Stadium in Soweto in Group K.
Lwaliwa and Kenneth will be involved in the next game against Congo Brazzaville at Namboole on Monday and we wait to see if that will be the case for Byaruhanga and Awany.
