The agreement between the player, his representatives, and the Ethiopian outfit was reached earlier this month.

He was spotted by the club during Kitara’s friendly match against Mechal SC in Ethiopia in July, a game the Royals won 2-0 courtesy of goals from Denis Omedi.

Speaking to this reporter on a video call this morning, Aheebwa was in transit and said: “I am going to complete the deal.”

His unveiling is expected soon after his arrival in Arba Mich City marking the end of his one-year stay with Kitara.

Apart from Kitara, Aheebwa also played for KCCA and Mbarara City in Uganda previously meaning it will be the first time that he plays abroad.

At Kitara he won the Uganda Cup and was instrumental in the semifinals scoring the only goal of the game as the Royals edged Pajule Lions 1-0 in the second leg.

Despite not having played overseas before, the 26-year-old has continental exposure under his belt.

He played in the CAF Confederation Cup for both KCCA and Kitara and scored for each of them, four goals in total.

Aheebwa was also part of the Uganda Cranes squad at the 2020 Africa Nations Championship in Cameroon.
