Agnes Nabukenya put up a player-of-the-match performance for the defending champions of the Finance Trust Women Super League, Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC.
Nabukenya netted a hat-trick as Kawempe convincingly defeated Rines SS WFC in Kawempe on Sunday morning.
She broke the deadlock midway through the first half in the 22nd minute before completing her brace at the stroke of halftime in the 44th minute.
Nabukenya’s first hat-trick of the season was recorded at the hour mark.
Her three goals not only ensured a perfect start to her team’s title defence but also ensured that she was the first player to score a hat-trick in the 2024/25 campaign.
It was a sweeter victory given that their immediate rivals, Kampala Queens FC, kicked off their campaign with a 1-1 draw at home against Wakiso Hill WFC at Lugogo on Friday.
Ayub Khalifa’s girls will visit Wakiso Hill at St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende for their second game of the season on Sunday, October 6.
On the other hand, Kampala Queens will also be on the road to face the newly promoted She Corporate, who have always been their rivals in Nakawa, on Saturday, October 5.
