FTWSL: Kawempe Muslim Maintain Perfect Start as Lady Doves, Kampala Queens Secure Crutial Wins

Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC maintained their perfect start to the Finance Trust FUFA Women Super League with a resounding 3-0 win over Wakiso Hill WFC, establishing themselves as early title contenders.

The defending champions are the only team with a 100% record after two matches, having amassed six points and scored six goals without conceding.

The match, played at Wakiso Hill’s St. Mary’s Stadium, Kitende on Saturday, saw both teams pressing for an early breakthrough.

Wakiso Hill, however, faced an unfortunate setback when goalkeeper Halimah Kasuubo suffered an injury just 13 minutes into the game, forcing an early substitution.

Despite a golden opportunity for Kawempe’s Agnes Nabukenya, the score remained level at halftime.

The second half saw relentless pressure from both sides, with Kawempe Muslim’s persistence paying off in the 66th minute when Sumaiya Nabbuto converted from Hadijjah Nandago’s impressive run to break the deadlock.

The lead was doubled nine minutes later, with Nandago heading in a corner from Samalie Nakacwa to put Kawempe in full control.

Agnes Nabukenya made up for her earlier miss by sealing the victory with a strike in the 85th minute.

Wakiso Hill’s hopes of a comeback were further dashed when Teddy Nantongo Namata received a red card for fouling Nandago, leaving the team a player down and their back line in disarray.

Elsewhere in the league, Kampala Queens secured their first win of the season, defeating She Corporate FC 1-0 courtesy of Shamirah Nalugya’s strike.

Kampala Queens are now fourth on the table with four points after their 1-1 draw with Wakiso Hill on matchday one.

Meanwhile, Lady Doves moved into second place with an impressive 3-1 victory over Amus College.

Goals from Resty Kobusobozi, Dorcus Kwikiriza, and Cecilia Apiding helped them join She Maroons, Kampala Queens, and Makerere University WFC on four points, with Lady Doves leading the group due to their superior goal tally of four.

Makerere University WFC earned a narrow 1-0 win against FC Tooro Queens, with Jemimah Twesigye scoring the decisive goal.

She Maroons also emerged victorious, defeating Uganda Martyrs 2-0 thanks to strikes from Rachael Nassimbwa and Norah Alupo.

The fixture between Rines SS WFC and Olila H/S WFC was abandoned after Olila players protested a second-half penalty awarded to Rines while the score was still goalless.

A decision regarding the outcome of the match will be communicated later.

After Match Day Two, Kawempe Muslim now leads the table, followed closely by Lady Doves, She Maroons, and Kampala Queens, all with four points but separated by goal differences.
