Mukasa’s Brace Secures City Victory Over Brighton

Youngster Divine Mukasa bagged a brace in Manchester City’s commanding 4-1 victory over Brighton in the Premier League U18 Cup on Saturday.

Mukasa opened the scoring in the 12th minute with a clinical finish, giving City the early advantage.

As the match progressed, City maintained control, keeping Brighton on the back foot.

Mukasa doubled his tally with a well-taken second goal in the 40th minute, allowing City to head into halftime with a comfortable lead.

Brighton fought back in the second half and managed to get on the scoresheet in the 73rd minute through Wail Bouhoutt, but it wasn’t enough to stage a comeback.

City’s Matthew Wharton also contributed with a goal in the 53rd minute, while a late strike ensured that the Cityzens finished the game on top.

Mukasa’s impressive performance has not only drawn attention in club football but also opened discussions about his international future.

The young midfielder is eligible to represent Uganda at the international level, given that he was born to Ugandan parents and has yet to play for the England senior team.

Although Mukasa’s priority is to represent England, a team he is already playing for at the youth level, securing a spot in the senior squad is not guaranteed.

This uncertainty could leave the door open for him to consider the Uganda Cranes in the future, as he navigates his options on the international stage.

As Mukasa continues to develop at Manchester City, his dual eligibility presents an exciting possibility for Ugandan football fans, who hope to see him wear the national colors someday.

For now, the focus remains on his club career, where he aims to build on this stellar performance.
