Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou has received a significant boost ahead of their clash with West Ham United this weekend, with key attackers Son Heung-Min and Richarlison nearing full fitness.
Son, the Spurs captain, has been sidelined since the team’s 3-0 victory over Qarabag FK in the Europa League last month due to a hamstring injury.
He missed the team’s last three games and remained in London during the international break to focus on his rehabilitation.
Richarlison, on the other hand, has been absent for an even longer period, having not featured since a substitute appearance against Everton in Tottenham’s second game of the season.
The Brazilian forward picked up a calf injury in training and has missed the last eight matches.
However, both players are now back in training with the first team, raising hopes of their return against West Ham.
“I guess the main ones, Sonny [Son Heung-Min] and Richy [Richarlison], have done some good work and trained with the group which is a real positive for us,” Postecoglou told the club’s media channels.
“Sonny was always hopefully going to get through this international break really well and be ready, and Richy has done some good work, so hopefully both are available for the weekend.”
The return of Son would be a major boost for Tottenham, who have struggled in his absence. Timo Werner, who has been deputizing on the left wing, has failed to impress, and his return to the bench is likely if Son is declared fit.
Richarlison’s return would also provide much-needed depth and attacking options for Postecoglou.
The Brazilian’s return to fitness coincides with a crucial period for Tottenham, who are looking to bounce back from a disappointing 3-2 defeat to Brighton in their last Premier League outing.
The only injury concern remaining for Tottenham is summer signing Wilson Odobert, who is still sidelined with a hamstring injury.
However, Lucas Bergvall is expected to shake off a minor knock picked up while on international duty with Sweden and could be available for the weekend clash.
With Son and Richarlison potentially back in the fold, Tottenham will be hoping to get back to winning ways and climb the Premier League table.
