NEC head coach Hussein Mbalangu has set an ambitious goal this season: to make the MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo, an unbeatable stronghold.
After his team’s 2-0 victory over Wakiso Giants at Lugogo, Mbalangu emphasized the importance of dominating on home turf.
“We don’t want to lose any game at home. If we have to struggle, let it be away, but not here,” Mbalangu stated passionately to CK Sports
“This ground should be a slaughtering place for everyone, whether it’s KCCA or any other team.”
NEC, currently leading the 16-team UPL standings with 15 points, has shown a strong start to the season with five wins from six games.
Their only loss came away against Express at Nakivubo, but their performance at Lugogo has been flawless, with home victories over Vipers (3-1), UPDF (1-0), Maroons (2-1), and Wakiso Giants (2-0).
The team, based in Bugolobi, is playing its second season at Lugogo, also home to KCCA.
NEC will host newly promoted Police on November 5th, where they aim to continue their winning streak and strengthen their claim over Lugogo as an impenetrable fortress.
