NEC Football Club officially welcomed striker Emmanuel Ajo to their squad after months of contractual disputes that saw the talented player entangled between NEC, SC Villa, and Busoga United.
NEC confirmed Ajo’s eligibility to join the team through a statement on social media on Tuesday afternoon.
“After a long battle and overcoming numerous hurdles, we’re thrilled to officially welcome Emmanuel Ajo to the #Diehards’ family!” the club wrote on social media.
The club emphasized his “passion and skill” as qualities that they were excited to see on the field.
“He fought hard to be here, and now he’s ready to bring his passion and skill to the field in our orange and green,” the club added.
The dispute began when SC Villa announced Ajo’s signing in June, citing a termination letter from his previous team, Busoga United.
However, complications arose when Busoga United agreed a transfer fee with NEC for the same player and challenged the validity of his move to SC Villa, arguing that the letter was signed by a former executive without current authority.
This disagreement delayed Ajo’s ability to play for any team as the three clubs worked toward a settlement. The final resolution involved Ajo compensating SC Villa for the attempted transfer, enabling him to join NEC.
With the matter resolved, NEC can now officially integrate Ajo into their lineup, adding his forward prowess to their attacking options.
Ajo’s addition is expected to strengthen NEC as they challenge for this season’s StarTimes Uganda Premier League title.
