Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has expressed admiration for incoming Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim, acknowledging the potential challenges he may pose to City’s dominance.
Amorim, who recently led Sporting CP to a stunning 4-1 victory over City in the Champions League, is set to take the reins at Old Trafford next week.
The Portuguese manager’s impressive track record and tactical acumen have caught the eye of many, including Guardiola.
“We’ll have to face him,” Guardiola said. “We learn from all the coaches we faced, Ruben has been doing well but let’s see what he can do to get them back to what they were. I don’t know if it will be better than us, we’ll have to wait.”
Amorim, while respectful of Guardiola’s achievements, remains confident in his ability to revitalize Manchester United.
“We had the game here two years ago, it was 5-1 [to City],” Amorim admitted. “He’s in front of the battle and so much better than me at the moment but I believe a lot in my newest club and we will start from a low level, maybe, I can say that, and we will improve the team, the club, so let’s see.”
The two managers are set to clash again on December 15th, a match that promises to be a thrilling encounter between two of the most exciting tacticians in world football.
