KCCA goalkeeper Mutwalibi Mugolofa is over the moon after receiving his first-ever call-up to the Uganda Cranes national team.
The talented shot-stopper was named in the squad for the upcoming AFCON 2025 qualifiers against South Africa and Congo.
Mugolofa, who has been instrumental in KCCA’s impressive start to the season, credits his hard work and patience for the recognition.
“I am happy about my maiden call-up to the Uganda Cranes. It is humbling that they have recognized my hard work and called me to the Uganda Cranes. I will keep working hard because there are no shortcuts to the top,” he said to club media.
Despite the excitement of the national team call-up, Mugolofa remains focused on his club duties at hand.
KCCA are set to face his former club Vipers in a crucial league match on Saturday, November 9th.
“I grew up there and have a lot of memories there but I have since moved on. To be fair, I found my opportunity at KCCA and I was welcomed here. I patiently kept working and we can see a few things we have worked on with the goalkeeping department. I am fully focused on the game on Saturday and I want to give the best for my club KCCA,” he added.
Uganda Cranes head coach Paul Put explained his decision to call up Mugolofa, highlighting his impressive performances for KCCA.
“We are aware that CHAN is around the corner and we have games against Burundi next month. So I needed to have him (Mugolofa) around the setup and also get training sessions with the goalkeeping coach. He has been performing well in the league, and maybe next time we will summon another goalkeeper,” Put said.
