UPL: Kitara Break Butema Jinx

Kitara put on a stunning display on Friday, claiming their first victory at their new home ground, Royals Park in Butema, Hoima District.

A commanding 4-0 win over UPDF not only broke their losing streak at the venue but also marked the team’s resurgence under new head coach Wasswa Bbosa.

Royals Park No Longer “Cursed”

Until Friday, Royals Park had been a nightmare for Kitara.

The club had lost all three home matches since relocating from Masindi Stadium, leading fans to dub the venue “cursed.”

Losses to NEC (2-1), Police (1-0), and BUL (3-1) had further cemented the label.

However, Kitara turned the tide in spectacular fashion against UPDF, showcasing their potential as they look to climb out of the relegation zone.

Goals Galore

Fred Amaku set the tone for the Royals, converting a penalty in the 14th minute to give his team the lead.

Living Kabon doubled Kitara’s advantage in the 23rd minute, intensifying the pressure on the visitors.

UPDF had a glimmer of hope with a penalty opportunity, but Bernard Muwanga’s effort was superbly saved by Kitara goalkeeper Chrispas Kusiima.

Shortly after, Kabon completed his brace, ensuring a comfortable 3-0 lead by halftime.

In the second half, George Ssenkaaba added Kitara’s fourth goal just three minutes after the restart, sealing a morale-boosting win for the hosts.

A Fresh Start Under Bbosa

The victory was particularly significant for head coach Wasswa Bbosa, who secured his first win since replacing Brian Ssenyondo earlier this season.

Kitara’s last win had come in their season opener, a 3-0 triumph over Lugazi, making this result even sweeter.

League Standings

The win elevated Kitara from the bottom of the Uganda Premier League table to 14th place with seven points.

While still in the relegation zone, the victory injected fresh hope into their campaign.

UPDF, on the other hand, remains in 8th place with 12 points.

Upcoming Fixtures

Kitara faces a tough challenge on November 30 as they travel to Kitende to take on Vipers.

Meanwhile, UPDF will host Police in Bombo on November 27.

This emphatic win might just be the spark Kitara needs to turn their season around.

With Bbosa at the helm and newfound confidence at Royals Park, the Royals are determined to make their presence felt in the UPL.
