The Ugandan government is leaving no stone unturned in its preparations to host the African Nations Championship (CHAN) and the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
A high-level meeting held today at Silver Springs Hotel in Bugolobi brought together key stakeholders, including government officials, football federation representatives, club officials, and sponsors, to strategize and accelerate preparations for these prestigious continental tournaments.
State Minister for Education and Sports, Peter Ogwang, emphasized the government’s commitment to transparency and timely delivery of infrastructure.
He assured the meeting that all necessary facilities would be ready by February 1, 2025, the start date for the CHAN tournament.
Dr. Denis Mugimba, Head of Communication and Signage on the Local Organizing Committee (LOC), confirmed that the government has released funds to support preparations. This timely financial injection is crucial for the successful execution of both tournaments.
Moses Hassim Magogo, FUFA President and Vice Chairperson of the LOC, expressed confidence in Uganda’s ability to meet international standards.
He highlighted the committee’s dedication to ensuring a world-class experience for players, officials, and fans.
