Two Ugandan players faced off in the Macedonian First Football League on Tuesday as Rogers Mato’s Brera Strumica took on Shafiq Kagimu’s Rabotnicki.
At the end of 90 minutes, it was Kagimu’s Rabotnicki who emerged victorious, beating Strumica 3-1.
Goals from Atdhe Mazari, Besir Demiri, and Aime Marcelin Gado Biala sealed the win for the visitors.
Mato, the Uganda Cranes winger, scored Strumica’s only goal, which came as a consolation in the 74th minute.
While Mato played the full match, Kagimu entered the game as a second-half substitute, replacing Ermedin Adem in the 68th minute, just after Rabotnicki’s third goal.
It’s interesting to note that Halid Lwaliwa paved the way for Ugandan players to North Macedonia when he joined FK Bregalnica from Vipers in September 2022.
Lwaliwa now plays for Al-Ain in Saudi Arabia.
Following Lwaliwa, Kagimu joined Rabotnicki from Gor Mahia in August 2023, and Mato made the move to Strumica from KCCA FC in February 2024.
