Big League: Blacks Power Reclaim Top Spot as Kataka Continue Home Dominance

The FUFA Big League delivered intense action on Match Day 10, played on Sunday, December 8, 2024.

Blacks Power returned to the summit of the 15-team table with a commanding 2-0 victory over Paidha Black Angels at the Akii Bua Memorial Stadium in Lira City.

Paul Oonyu opened the scoring in the 11th minute before Nathan Oloro doubled the lead early in the second half.

The result sees Blacks Power climb to 19 points from nine matches, a single point ahead of Calvary, who have played a game more.

At Mbale City Stadium, Kataka continued their strong home form with a 2-1 victory over Onduparaka.

Ali Ssentamu put Kataka ahead in the 43rd minute, but Junior Andama equalised for the visitors with a penalty just before the halftime whistle.

The hosts, however, sealed the win through Usama Khayemba’s 51st-minute strike, maintaining their unbeaten run at home this season.

Kataka now sit ninth on the table with 13 points, four clear of the relegation zone but still five points off the promotion places.

In Bugembe, Busoga United celebrated their first win of the campaign with a narrow 1-0 victory over Ntugasaze at the Kyabazinga Stadium.

Meanwhile, Buhimba United Saints secured a hard-fought 1-0 win away to Booma at the Masindi Municipal Stadium.

Edison Agondeze’s 30th-minute goal, set up by Davis Kakaire, proved decisive for the visitors.

Elsewhere, two matches ended in goalless draws. Kaaro Karungi and Calvary failed to find the back of the net in Ntungamo, while Kigezi Homeboyz and Kiyinda Boys also settled for a stalemate in Kabale.

The league continues on Sunday, December 15, with fixtures including Onduparaka hosting Kaaro Karungi at the Aba Bet Green Light Stadium in Arua City and Buhimba United Saints welcoming Blacks Power to Kigaaya Primary School in Kikuube District.

MYDA will be hosting Booma at Kongunga Primary School in Bukedea, and Ntugasaze will entertain Arua Hill at the Ssaza Ground in Mityana.
