Kitara Football Club President, Deo Kasozi, on Wednesday announced that the club had realized UGX 17,395,000 (seventeen million three hundred ninety-five thousand Shillings only) from gate collections following their 1-0 victory over SC Villa in the Uganda Premier League.
The victory, secured by a late goal from substitute Marvin Nyanzi, saw Kitara extend their impressive home form and climb above SC Villa in the league standings.
“We thank all our fans, leaders, the media, sponsors and partners for the unwavering support,” President Akiiki stated. “Their presence at the stadium and the fantastic atmosphere they created played a crucial role in this victory.”
The funds generated from the match will be utilized to support the club’s 2024/2025 budget.
The victory propelled Kitara above SC Villa in the league standings as the first round concluded. The Royals now occupy seventh place with 21 points, while Villa dropped to eighth with 20 points after 15 games.
Kitara have not conceded in their last four home games securing wins over UPDF, Mbale Heroes, Express, and SC Villa.
They will next face Young Simba in the Round of 64 of the Uganda Cup on Sunday, January 12th, at Bombo Playground in Luwero district.
