Uganda’s Boni Consilli Fall to Tanzania in CAF Girls’ Football Tournament Opener

Uganda’s hopes of glory at the CAF Girls’ Integrated Football Tournament suffered an early setback as Boni Consilli Girls’ Vocational School fell to Tanzania’s TDS Girls 2-0 in their group stage opener.

The match, played at Chamazi Stadium in Dar es Salaam, saw a tightly contested first half with both sides struggling to gain a foothold.

However, TDS found their rhythm in the second half, with goals from Winfrida Mathias in the 60th minute and Mary Arone Siyame in the dying moments securing victory for the home team.

Boni Consilli, despite their valiant efforts, found themselves unable to create significant scoring opportunities.

The transitional nature of the game, characterized by frequent changes in possession and numerous challenges, seemed to disrupt the flow of their attack.

Coach David Bbale, while acknowledging the disappointing result, remained optimistic about his team’s prospects.

“We played well in the first half,” he stated. “I am proud of the girls because they showed great character during the game. We will learn from this and come back stronger in our next match.”

Boni Consilli will now face Aigle Noir on January 14th, while TDS will take on the same opponent on January 11th.

A victory in their next match is crucial for Boni Consilli to keep their hopes of advancing in the tournament alive.
