Lugazi have announced the signing of attacking midfielder Hussein Ssenoga from Buganda regional league side Free Stars FC.
Ssenoga has signed a one-year contract with the club and will begin training with his new teammates immediately.
The 27-year-old started his playing career with Free Stars in 2011, where he quickly established himself as a rising star.
He won the youngest player of the season award in his first year with the club, scoring six goals and making two assists in 28 appearances.
Ssenoga’s talent continued to blossom in the following years. In 2014, he played for The Saints Football Club in the FUFA Juniors League, where he further honed his skills.
His impressive performances caught the attention of Hearts Kyebando United FC, who were playing in the Kampala regional league at the time. Ssenoga joined the club and was named their most influential player at the end of the season.
In 2017, Ssenoga returned to Free Stars, where he continued to excel. He won the team’s player of the season awards twice, in 2019 and 2020.
His performances earned him a move to the big leagues in 2022, joining Express FC in the Uganda Premier League.
Ssenoga spent two years with the Red Eagles before returning to Free Stars at the beginning of this season.
Despite playing in the lower division Buganda regional league this season, Ssenoga has been in impressive form.
He contributed nine goals (five goals and four assists) in just nine first-round games for Free Stars.
His creativity and eye for goal are sure to be valuable assets for Lugazi FC as they look to challenge for promotion to the Uganda Premier League.
“I feel really excited and grateful to have joined this club,” Ssenoga said. “I have worked really hard in my career to be here and I’m looking forward to getting on the pitch with this team.”
Lugazi, who are 12th on the League table, will face Kitara on Wednesday 22nd January as the second round of the Uganda Premier League begins.
