Rayon Sports Club has officially announced the departure of Ugandan striker Charles Bbaale, bringing an end to his 18-month stint with the Rwandan giants.
The confirmation, made on Monday evening, follows weeks of speculation about the player’s future after struggling for consistent game time this season.
Bbaale’s diminished role came in the wake of Senegalese forward Fall Ngagne’s stellar performances, with Ngagne netting nine goals in 15 appearances and cementing his place as Rayon’s main attacking threat.
As a result, Bbaale has faced limited opportunities, which reportedly influenced his decision to request an early release from the club despite having six months left on his contract.
The striker’s departure is expected to pave the way for a potential return to Uganda, with SC Villa and Vipers SC both rumored to be keen on acquiring his services.
SC Villa, Bbaale’s former club, is said to be particularly eager to reunite with the player, while Vipers SC sees him as a valuable addition to bolster their attacking options.
Rayon Sports, on the other hand, are already exploring replacements, with Ugandan striker Fahad Bayo and Burkinabe forward Allasane Zeba reportedly on their radar.
Bbaale, who joined Rayon Sports from SC Villa in July 2023, is looking to reignite his career in Uganda, particularly with hopes of breaking into the national team ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
His return to the Ugandan Premier League could provide the platform he needs to rediscover his form and make a case for selection.
