Crested Cranes forward, Violah Nambi has signed with Åland United. This move comes after she and Italian side Napoli parted on mutual terms on 18th January 2025.
The 28-year-old Ugandan forward brings a wealth of experience to the Finnish side, having previously played for prominent European clubs.
Her journey began in Uganda, and she later showcased her talents in Sweden with Växjö DFF and IFK Kalmar. Nambi also made her mark in Italy’s Serie A with stints at Pomigliano and Napoli.
Speaking about the signing, Åland United head coach Daniel Norrmén praised Nambi’s abilities.
“We have been looking for a forward with certain qualities for a long time, and the fact that Violah has now signed is very exciting because she perfectly matches what we were looking for,” he said.
“Violah is fast, strong in deep runs, enjoys challenging opponents, and works tirelessly for the team. Additionally, having played several years in Damallsvenskan and Serie A highlights what a skilled player we have brought to Åland United,” he added.
Nambi, known for her attacking prowess and versatility, expressed her enthusiasm about the move.

Nambi’s arrival is a significant addition to Åland United’s squad and further cements her reputation as one of Uganda’s leading football exports.
