Kylian Mbappe continued his blistering form with a hat-trick on Saturday, powering Real Madrid to a convincing 3-0 victory over Valladolid.
The result extends their lead at the top of La Liga to four points.
Mbappe’s goals, scored in the 30th, 57th, and 88th minutes, showcased his exceptional talent and highlighted his growing influence on the Real Madrid attack.
“I’m happy with the hat-trick but more happy with the win,” Mbappe told Real Madrid TV. “It was very important to win today after Atletico’s result… so we’re happy and go back to Madrid with the victory.”
Second-placed Atletico Madrid dropped points in a 1-1 draw at home against Villarreal, while Barcelona, in third, trails Real Madrid by 10 points.
Atletico Madrid, despite a strong start to the season, have shown signs of faltering recently.
Their draw against Villarreal, following a defeat to Leganes last week, has allowed Real Madrid to gain a significant advantage in the title race.
“We found the draw, we took the game to a place where we could have won it, but it wasn’t possible,” said Atletico manager Diego Simeone. “We will continue on our path, going game by game.”
Real Madrid, with Mbappe leading the charge, are looking increasingly formidable. Their attacking prowess, coupled with a solid defense, has made them the team to beat in La Liga.
“Mbappe is bringing a lot to the team,” said Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti. “He’s found form in the last couple of months and obviously for us that’s a plus, he’s a player with a lot of quality.”
The La Liga title race is far from over, but Real Madrid have certainly taken a significant step towards retaining their crown.
