The MTN Busoga Masaza Cycling Championship 2024 qualifiers continued with exciting races in Bukono and Bugabula Chiefdoms.
Cyclists battled through challenging courses, demonstrating impressive endurance and skill to secure their spots in the grand finale next month.
In Bugabula, the 80km race saw Wyclife Bamutazze emerge victorious in the Mountain Sports Bike category with a calculated late escape.
He emphasized the importance of bike maintenance and a strategic approach to his win.
Rogers Byansi also qualified in this category, while Joseph Ssebowa and Yassin Mugula secured their places in the Tippa (local bike) category.
Fahad Ndalandala, coach of the Eastern Cycling Club, encouraged the qualifiers to focus on improving their speed and fitness before the finals, given their relatively low speeds on the relatively flat course.
Bukono’s 75km race, flagged off by Busoga Kingdom’s Sports Minister Owek. Amin Bbosa, saw Kuluseni Latif and Rambo Yusuf excel in the Tippa category, and Waiswa Isiko and Munyangala Furasiko secure their places in the Mountain Sports Bike category.
The qualifiers continue in the coming days, with the grand finale set to feature the top cyclists from all participating chiefdoms.
