Kenyan Premier League side Tusker FC have strengthened their squad with the signing of experienced Ugandan defender Denis Iguma.
The club’s head coach, Charles Okere, confirmed the deal on Wednesday, stating that Iguma will officially join the team once the transfer window opens on Friday morning.
Iguma, a former Uganda Cranes international, brings a wealth of experience to the Kenyan league. He represented his country at the 2014 African Nations Championship (CHAN) in South Africa and the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Gabon.
The versatile defender, capable of playing as a right-back, center-back, or defensive midfielder, arrives as a free agent after his departure from Uganda’s Police FC.
“Yes, Iguma is our player,” Okere told the press. “Once the transfer window opens, we will sign him.”
The Tusker boss revealed that the 30-year-old had previously trained with the team and had been on their radar for some time.
“He is not new to us,” Okere added. “Last year, he also trained with us, and we are confident he will be a valuable addition to our squad.”
Iguma’s arrival comes at a crucial time for Tusker, who are currently locked in a tight title race with Kenya Police FC.
The club is looking to reinforce key positions during the mid-season transfer window to improve their chances of clinching the championship.
Tusker FC currently occupies second place in the FKF Premier League table with 36 points, level on points with leaders Kenya Police but trailing them due to a lower goal difference.
