Kibirige Eyes Pearl of Africa Golf Series Title

Having returned par-level 72 (140 total score) on day two of the Pearl of the Africa golf series at Uganda Golf Club, Kitante yesterday, Marvin Kibirige says focus is on retaining his lead.

With the top 20 professional players vying for the shs 20M prize kitty, the tournament in its first edition is geared towards increasing competition among professional and amateur golfers.

“The course is playing tough. My putting has been off having three-putted the first five holes. My drivers have been so that has helped my game. I’m mentally and feeling strong as I aim to manage the lead.”

Despite resilient effort from Ronald Rugumayo, the Tooro club player dropped five strokes off the lead (145) with David Kamulindwa now second (142), two strokes off the lead.

John Musiimenta leads the amateurs standings with a 2-over 142 total score after two rounds.

The Pearl of Africa Golf Series are focused on environmental sustainability and increased competition.
