The Uganda Hockey Association (UHA) Events & Competitions Sub-Committee is set to conduct the draws for this year’s National Hockey League and Uganda Cup on Saturday, February 8. The 2025 National League will commence on March 1, while the Uganda Cup is scheduled to begin on May 1.
Wananchi will enter the new season as the team to beat after dominating the 2024 National Hockey League, winning both the men’s and women’s titles.
Wananchi-HDF’s Janet Nakato finished as the women’s league top scorer with 27 goals while Kampala Swans’ Winnie Alaro was named the player of the season.
In the men’s league, Jordan Achaye stood out as the leading goal scorer with 30 goals, while Kampala Stallions’ Jordan Mpima was recognized as the season’s best player.
Wananchi also secured the Uganda Cup in the men’s category, while Kampala Swans continued their dominance in the women’s competition, becoming the first team to successfully defend the title.
With the upcoming draws set to shape the 2025 season, teams will be eager to challenge Wananchi’s supremacy in both competitions.
